A Walk in The Garden Soiree
Sept 18th, 7:00PM
On September 18, the Highlands Performing Arts Center will be the location for the premiere of a new feature film. This film was shot in the private Highlands gardens of Ray and Diane McPhail. After the showing, join us for a cocktail party in the gardens. Meet the director and actors and enjoy food from a soon to be announced Food Network star with your bubbly!

Bogart's Cocktail Party

Stroll along the red carpet and join all the actors and stars attending the film festival for a very Hollywood cocktail party featuring vintage and Bogart approved cocktails and food prepared by our very own local Food Network star. This event will be held at the PAC.

People's Choice Awards
Sept 21st, 11:30AM - 12:30PM
Viewers at each individual film will get a chance to vote. The winning film will be announced on Sunday.
Winners will receive $1000 and a custom designed art piece which was made by local artist from the The Bascom, a Center for the Visual Arts in Highlands, NC.

The Art of the Title

Hosted by Christian Haberkern
Christian will explore the rich history and evolution of main-on-end title sequences in film, beginning with the groundbreaking work of Saul Bass on classics like Vertigo, North by Northwest, and Psycho, and Maurice Binder’s iconic contributions to the James Bond franchise. He will trace the development of the craft through to the modern era with influential sequences like Kyle Cooper’s gritty and genre-defining work on Seven, as well as contemporary television examples such as Severance and True Detective.

Q&A with Mary Badham

Mary Badham, who plays Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird, will be joined by Heather Lowe in this intimate Q&A.
Mary Badham is an American actress who portrayed Jean Louise "Scout" Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. At the time, Badham was the youngest actress ever nominated in this category.

Documentary of William Wyler

Catherine directed and produced a documentary about her dad while he was living. In the seminar, we will learn about this process and experience.
Fun fact: While filming the documentary, William came in and told Catherine that he almost parted his hair the other way. That would have made editing impossible according to Catherine.

Joining Technicolor in 2001, and spending most of the next two decades working for the historic brand as Vice President of Marketing, Robert Hoffman presents decades of research and insight into the company’s celebrated history taking readers inside the “greatest name in color” at the height of its aesthetic dominance. His book, Alchemy in Technicolor, pulls back the curtains on the historic brand focusing on its seminal era within motion picture history.

Hair and Makeup

Hosted by Emmy Award winner, Wesley Wofford.
Wesley Wofford, who is currently a renowned sculptor, who spent many years in hair and makeup in Hollywood, began working in the Motion Picture and Television Industry, and quickly rose in the ranks of the industry with his own silicone prosthetic techniques. In 2004, he won an Emmy from The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and in 2005 The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded him a Technical Achievement Academy Award for his groundbreaking and now industry standard contributions. He received numerous other awards and accolades for his decade of work of over 75 projects in the film industry.

After the festival ends, another fun event begins!
Porchfest is a free to attend music event for our community, organized and presented by the Highlands-Cashiers Center for Life Enrichment (CLE) each year. Approximately 30 musicians from every genre will perform live at various Highlands businesses.
